An Evening with Brian Wood…
At the age of 23, local man Brian Wood was thrust into the front line in Iraq. Ambushed, he led a bayonet charge across open ground with at least 20 insurgents firing at just 5 soldiers. On his return, he was awarded the Military Cross.
A tale of two halves, tonight’s show explores Brian’s story as he struggled to reintegrate back into family life, suffered PTSD and answer allegations of war crimes against British soldiers. Rightly vindicated and acknowledged as the hero he is, Brian’s story, Danny Boy, is soon to be televised on BBC 2 and stars Toby Jones as human rights lawyer Phil Shiner.
In addition to his military service, tonight will offer an insight into a life rebuilt, including his autobiography Double Crossed: A Code of honour, A Complete Betrayal and the launch of his own sportswear brand, KeepAttacking.
