The Makers’ Market at The Shed

A new business with a familiar name has settled in at The Shed, Bordon. The Makers’ Market is a local farm-shop style offering Whitehill & Bordon residents their daily essentials sourced from local suppliers.

The name was chosen to reflect The Shed’s original working title philosophy, a place where shopping is social and produce is local – a hub that supports and promotes local business from the roots up. The Makers’ Market aim is to deliver the same multi-vendor approach giving hyper-local producers and micro-businesses an opportunity to find customers for their products.

The Makers’ Market has it’s own on site bakery, offering freshly baked goods daily, as well as roasting the coffee beans used to craft customers coffees. The Makers’ Market champions local suppliers like JCs Fruit and Veg, The Milk Club, Naomi Preserves and even locally made dog treats from Big Biscuit Co.

Dayne Cartwright, MD said “We are extremely lucky to have been given amazing opportunities to grow our business over the past 12 months and we are aware that small businesses would love the same opportunities. When we saw the available space I wanted to create a retail experience that offers other local and micro businesses the same type of opportunity as we had when starting out. Serving our local community is at the heart of what we do and we want to support others, this is about providing local residents with their daily essentials.”

Local residents have been vocal about the lack of fresh produce and other convenience goods in the new town centre, with specific requests for a baker and access to a wider selection of fresh goods.

The Makers’ Market will be opening from 8am for freshly roasted coffee made on site, croissants and other fresh baked goods, as well as milk and juice products – you’ll even be able to pick up a newspaper.

The Maker’s Market is up and running, come down and see what local goodies are on offer.
